A12 between junctions 17 and 18 – LED street lighting surveys
Dear Customer
I’m writing to tell you that as part of our effort to reduce carbon emissions from roadside lighting, we’ll be carrying out surveys to help us upgrade the street lighting on the A12 between junctions 17 and 18 to LED.
LED lights are better for the environment and use far less energy to produce the same amount of light. They also last longer and require less maintenance, meaning fewer road closures to fix lighting in the future and more importantly, safer roads for everyone.
We plan to carry out these surveys over three nights starting on Monday 19 August to Thursday 22 August. We will work overnight between 9pm and 5am, weather conditions permitting.
Closures and diversions
To carry out the surveys safely, we will need to close exit and entry slips between junction 17 and 18 of the A12, and divert traffic as detailed below:

| A12 southbound exit slip at junction 17 | Monday 19 August, 9pm to Tuesday 20 August, 5am | A12 traffic will be diverted to turnaround at junction 16. |
| A12 southbound entry slip at junction 18 | Tuesday 20 August, 9pm to Wednesday 21 August, 5am | A12 southbound traffic will be diverted to turnaround at junction 19. |
| A12 northbound exit slip at junction 18 | Tuesday 20 August, 9pm to Wednesday 21 August, 5am | A12 traffic will be diverted to turnaround at junction 19. |
| A12 northbound entry slip at junction 18 | Wednesday 21 August, 9pm to Thursday 22 August, 5am | A12 northbound traffic will be diverted to turnaround at junction 17. |
| A12 southbound exit slip at junction 18 | Wednesday 21 August, 9pm to Thursday 22 August, 5am | A12 traffic will be diverted to turnaround at junction 17. |
Please note, junction 23 link road will have temporary traffic lights between the northbound exit and southbound entry.
