Edward Thorn

Eddie was born and currently lives in Chelmsford. He moved to South Carolina, US, in 1997
to work in hospitality for 5 years. On his return, he lived and worked around Southend
within the Hospitality and Care Industry, including caring for disabled adults within a home
environment, and as a carer in care homes. In 2016 he had a road traffic accident that meant
he was no longer able to work at his current occupation and is now registered disabled. He
moved back to Chelmsford to live and care for his mother later that year. He was his
mother’s full-time carer up until her passing in 2024. Eddie now works voluntary with the
Essex Heart Foundation in Chelmsford city centre.
Eddie has a keen interest in the care system through employment and caring for his mother.
He is also keen to help those with disabilities as he has personal awareness of the challenges
it can create.
